WebFrom my understanding, Cole didn't actually come into the world to be a human. He came into the world because he was a spirit of compassion that wanted desperately to help the real Cole. When he couldn't save Cole, he became traumatized by it and took on Cole's form. Cole seems much, much happier as a spirit. WebCole is a spirit of compassion whose purpose was subverted when he merged with mage Cole. He didn’t intend to become human, he just wanted to help end the pain. Choosing spirit returns him to what he is and sets him back on his original purpose. He can help more people as a spirit and seems genuinely grateful to be accepted for what he really is.
