That is the whole reason to have hot swappable drives and Raid-5 and higher. They say that the drive you're adding must be either: Equal to or larger than the largest drive in the storage pool, or equal to any of the drives in the storage pool. So basically you couldn't add something like a 12 TB drive, or a 6, or whatever, but an 8, a 10, or a 16 or larger should work.
